Happy New Year Everyone and I forgot one video!

Rocketman reminded me that I forgot to include a "Nobody" video in yesterday's post. It's a goody! While living in South Korea, I often wondered what the police did and now I know! Have a wonderful 2010 everyone!

My Favorite Song of 2009 - Nobody by The Wonder Girls

The first video is the original from The Wonder Girls. The second is "Baby Wonder Girls" which I found on YouTube. Too cute. The third is from those crazy Philipino prisoners.

And just in case you were wondering, I do know all the dance moves. Ask Rocketman!

Well That Was A Bit of a Break

First the good stuff. Rocketman had a very happy Christmas. He loved his ITouch.

We got to spend time with our favorite grandson (our only one right now), Noah!

And the Constant Crafter actually took time to cook. I made a cookies and bars for everyone. Unfortunately that was as fun as it got. Rocketman came down with a nasty intestinal bug on December 22nd. It was the sickest I have seen him in decades. Then the big snowstorm hit and our three year old Craftsman snowblower died. It was the same cable that had broken two times previously.

It gets even better. On Christmas Eve, I got the intestinal bug. You really just wanted to die you felt so bad. I am still recovering with now just a queasy stomach and exhaustion. Christmas day the whole family was supposed to get together but because of the snowstorm, my sister and her family were stuck in Illinois and my daughter was stuck in Minneapolis. I did make it through Christmas but felt like I had been hit by a truck.

The day after Christmas my daughter and her family came over for Christmas. We decided to go out to lunch and I was just going to try a small salad. My first bite was into a crouton and "pop," off came a crown. Luckily I didn't swallow it.

Monday I was able to get into my dentist right away and he was able to glue it back in place and is hopeful that I don't need to replace it.

Rocketman says in years to come we will laugh about this Christmas. I'm not so sure about that at this point. I'm going to send a letter to Sears giving them my opinion on a $900 snowblower that is three years old and has only been used 15 times. Maybe it's too much to expect that you won't have to replace a cable yearly.

Twin Cities Live Appearance !!!

I appeared a second time December 16th on "Twin Cities Live" this time demoing a washer necklace. I had a blast making a necklace out of washers. Now my new favorite craft store is my neighborhood hardware store. I even invaded Rocketman's stash! I still don't really know what washers are used for.

This picture does not want to appear the way it is suppose to.

The co-hosts of "Twin Cities Live" are John and Elizabeth. I didn't want John to feel left out so I made him this key chain in Minnesota Viking colors. I used Scribble paints to make the dots. These paints are normally used to decorate clothing.

I dug into my button stash to create this necklace and earrings.

This necklace also uses the Scribble paints.

Faux gemstones I bought at Michaels and I used E6000 to glue them into place.

This pendant uses self sticking gems. How perfect is that. No messy glue!

I even found these black washers made of PVC. I used gold glitter glue to dot.

For this necklace, I spread the top of the washer with E6000 and then sprinkled on a bead mixture. I bought the beads already mixed.
Here are the basic instructions:
Washer Necklace
By Becky Meverden
Materials:
Assortment of washers (projects used ½”, 7/16” and 3/8”
24 ga. icy silver Fun Wire (www.tonerplastics.com)
6mm silver jump rings
Assorted self stick gems
3 ft. of ribbon or decorative trim (cut in half)
Wire cutters
2 pair needle (or flat) nose pliers

Instructions:
1. Use assorted sizes to arrange the washers into a design of your choice. The washers have a front and back so make sure the front is facing up as you design.
2. Use the wire cutters to cut a length of Fun Wire. Start at the back of the washer and wrap the wire around the washer three times finishing in the back. Cut off the excess wire and press the wire into the washer.
3. There needs to be a wire wrapped section where a washer meets another washer.
4. Use needle nose pliers to attach jump rings to each wire section to connect the washers.
5. Use self sticking gems to decorate the washers.
6. Thread ribbon through each end of the necklace and knot or glue.

Unfortunite Upgrading

This is the holiday card I demoed on Twin Cities Live last week. I have posted the instructions below. I also got a surprise on Friday when I received an email from my producer from the show seeing if I was available this Wednesday. I will be demoing a choker made out of washers. I've been busy making samples and the step outs for the show. I'll post it on Wednesday.

I've fallen in love with another KPop singer, Lee Ji Hoon. Here is my favorite song right now. He is only 30 and has been singing professional since he was in high school.

Our ancient scanner decided to die and Rocketman ordered a new one. Installing it has been a nightmare and proven to be impossible. He was on the phone last week for hours with Epson with the conclusion that we need a new computer. Our present computer is only 4 years old. We bought it shortly before the move to Korea.

Poor Rocketman with business trips to Asia and an empty bedroom needing paint so I can move my craft room into it hardly has time for anything more on his plate. I think the bedroom is more important but he disagrees. Family is coming up next week for the holidays and I had wanted the room done before then just because. I really hate get a new computer because this one will random change to Korea time and it just makes me smile to see what time it is in Korea.

Infinity Challenge

Besides the Korean dramas, I loved to watch Infinity Challenge. It is five comedians that are given missions to complete. I'm glad I was able to find an entire episode on YouTube. The blond guy was my favorite. He was always over the top.

Distractions

My segment on Twin Cities Live went great. I made the holiday card with Elizabeth and she was fantastic. I hope to do it again.

I was all set to finally make some chilbo (Korean enameling) today and dug out all my supplies. I do have a problem since my Korean chilbo teacher labeled all the enamels in Korean. It will be a little hit or miss for now what the colors end up looking like after firing.

The first thing I needed to do after cleaning the copper forms was to coat the backs with black enamel. Guess what! I couldn't find the black enamel. I had a huge bag of it and I don't know where I put it. I looked all over and couldn't find it. I ended up ordering some from Thompson Enamels along with a few other items. It was disappointing.

I wasn't able to make a lot of cookies while living in South Korea. I had heard that Korean baking soda was awful and I hadn't brought any with me. So this Christmas I want to make a huge assortment of cookies to send home with everyone after Christmas. I started with my daughter's favorite, oatmeal rounds. Mine never seem to turn out so round but they are delicious. The recipe is from my old Better Homes and Garden's Cookbook from 1976. I did really well, not one burnt pan.

Twin Cities Live Appearance !!!

Monday at 3:00 CST I will be appearing on Twin Cities Live on Channel 5. I'll be making the holiday card above with John and Elizabeth.

These are samples of my other cards made without a rubberstamp and using wrapping paper. It was so much fun. Rocketman is going with so he'll be taking lots of pictures of the experience.

Maedeup Ornament

I found this ornament on Etsy and knew it would be perfect to enhance with maedeup. I wanted to make a bunch as gifts but I am behind in everything so they will have to wait until next year. I'm preparing for my segment on "Twin Cities Live" on Monday at 3:00pm. I talked to my producer today and John and Elizabeth, the hosts of the show, are going to make the holiday card along with me. It should be a blast.

Another Cardmaking Class

I took another cardmaking class this week at Stamp Garden. They make it so easy with everything precut and stamps so we just have to assemble.

This is the inside of the card.

The second card we made.

This photo doesn't want to cooperate.
I have some exciting news! I will be appearing on "Twin Cities Live" this Monday, December 7th. I will be demonstrating a holiday card using wrapping paper and no rubber stamps. The show airs in the Twin Cities at 3:00 pm. Rockman is going with for moral support.
